LMR-400 isn't considered hard-line, but it is stiff and has a large bend radius.

"Both RG8/X and RG213/U can be used in applications where the cable needs to be "flexed" (i.e. to go around a rotor) whereas LMR-400 has a solid aluminum (flashed with copper) center conductor and therefore will break in a VERY short period of time if used in an application where the cable is "flexed"." https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/lmr400-or-rg8-or.199215/

As I recall, LMR-400 is also known as "Hard Line".  RG-213 is the premium equivalent of RG-8.  As I recall, RG-8 has an outer diameter of about 1/2 inch.  Many go with RG8X for that reason, but sharp bends in that will eventually degrade the coax due to the foam dialectric and the center conductor will migrate toward the shield.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong on any of the above.

For years, my power supply was a battery fed by a small power supply this giving me backup power as well. The battery gives the short term high current capacity and a 3 to 5 amp supply is all that's needed - unless you talk a lot. Then just get the 20 amp supply. I still have the battery and 3 amp supply, but now with a 50 watt solar panel. Works OK in the summer but need the AC power in the winter. Again buy the power supply from a radio store, or some local HAM.

> What I'd like to follow up with is this... What Power Supplies do you use? I'm leaning towards something with power poles on the front (I do intend to move the radio from my house to the car often enough to make easy dis-re-connecting a consideration), and am not ready to build my 'ammo can' go-box yet, so a 120vac to 13.8vdc 30-amp (peak) power supply of some kind seems reasonable. (vice the Bioenno with charger option) (BTW.. There are a couple of LARGE ammo cans listed on Craigslist today!)

I figure I'm gonna need a ~30 foot feed line, and am leaning towards LMR 400. Where do you find the best source for genuine coax (with fittings already attached)? I realize this is one thing that some counterfeit poorly, so I don't want to substitute for a faulty product. Any good ideas on how recognize the real thing... or what acceptable substitutes you've found effective? This will be installed once and left in place, so I'm okay with a solid vice stranded core, not sure if there's other considerations I need to think about.
