_>>>SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, July 16, 7:00 pm - HARC Workshop (On Zoom)<<<_

*The DBJ-1 - A VHF/UHF Base Antenna*

For our July Humboldt Amateur Radio Club (HARC) workshop we are
fortunate to have Dr. Edison Fong talk about the DBJ-1 and DBJ-2
antennas which he conceived. These antennas are low-cost, easy to
construct adaptations of J-Poles to provide dual-band coverage. The
theory and design of these antennas appeared in the February 2003 and
April 2007 issues of QST (see links below). It is also reprinted in the
ARRL Antenna Classics Handbook.

To date over - 23,000 of these have been delivered to hams, Red Cross,
Department of Justice, Department of Forestry, various police and fire
departments and even the FBI.

Complete antennas will be available for purchase at $30 each.  He will
also have various RF adapters for his antennas available for very
reasonable prices. The proceeds of these antennas go to support his
student group at UC Santa Cruz -Santa Clara Valley.

Ed Fong was first licensed in 1968 as WN6IQN. He later upgraded to Extra
Class (passing the 20 WPM CW) with his present call of WB6IQN.  He
obtained the BSEE and MSEE degrees from the Univ. of California at
Berkeley and his Ph.D. from the Univ. of San Francisco.  A Senior Member
of the IEEE, he has 12 patents and over 40 published papers and books in
the area of communications and integrated circuit design. Presently, he
is employed by the University of California (previously at Berkeley and
presently at Santa Cruz –Silicon Valley) as an instructor teaching
graduate classes in RF design and High Speed interface design. During
his 35 year career he has performed worked for Motorola, National
Semiconductor, Phillips Semiconductor and Advanced Micro Devices.

More information about Dr. Fong and his antennas can be found on his
website,*Ed’s Antennas. <https://edsantennas.weebly.com/>*

This workshop will be held on Thursday, July 16 at 7:00 pm on Zoom.As we
get closer to that date, a Zoom invitation with connection instructions
will be sent via this Humboldt Amateur Radio Club reflector.*
