Thank you all for the responses.  I hope we're not annoying about with this "Group Chat."  I did the portable radio trick this morning.  I tuned to an FM broadcast frequency where I most solidly heard the noise.  I moved the radio around the engine compartment and then around the inside and outside of the car with no noticeable gain or loss of the the "ticking."  All for now, just wanted to give all you helpers an update.Thank you!A

Sometimes it helps to be sure that all the body panels are well bonded to each other. Such as the hood to the body etc.

Wonderful advice, all. Thank you very much. Will try Mark’s idea tomorrow PM and report my findings.  Attached is a short video of the symptoms.  A

My 2 cents: in the Old Days, there was a noise suppression capacitor attached to the distributor, If I recall correctly. Maybe something associated with whatever ignition Black Box is in your rig. They worked in my old analog ignition Mazda Pick up.
Maybe a common mode choke on your antenna lead?

  Hi A
I would follow Mark’s advice. I am betting on degraded spark plug wires.

Hello All,   Looking for a little help diagnosing a noise in my mobile and broadcast radio.  It's a "static" type noise that relates to my engine RPM.  It seems to be getting progressively worse.  I hear it when I open the squelch on my mobile and on some freqs of my FM broadcast radio.  My mobile radio is connected directly to the battery.  Today I changed the alternator hoping I would luck out.  I don't know how old it was and it wasn't going to be hard to replace so I went in that direction.  No joy.  The spark plugs aren't as easy to get to in this V-6 so I didn't do that first.  Perhaps spark plug wires next? Thanks for any insight you might send my way. Cheers, Anthony 951-623-3400
