Greetings fellow club members!

I've been working on updating the content and format of the website, and I
wanted to show some of the progress I've made and ask for some feedback.

Based on the feedback I've already gotten, I've added a 'template' to all
existing pages that adds a section at the top with the page name, giving
the content room to get out from under the menu. This should clear up any
'hidden content' from the redesign, and pages will get cleaned up one by
one as time goes on.

Also, note that on pages I've completely redesigned, the old page still
exists under the same old URL it's always had and I've just updated the
menu to point to the new pages, so nothing has been lost.

Here are some of the pages that I've added extra content:
https://www.humboldt-arc.org/repeaters/ -- Lots of text added about what
repeaters are, and how to use them. Asking for feedback on text, and if
anyone has a quick video guide to repeaters.

I'd like to do the same for the Digital Voice page, but I don't know much
about it. Can someone who does contact me and walk me through it?

https://www.humboldt-arc.org/online-resources/ -- Links reorganized, more
links added, including some local member generated links. If you have a
website with ham radio content, shoot me an email about it and I'll add it
to the "Local & Member Links" area.

https://www.humboldt-arc.org/email-reflector/ -- This page has had the
links explained, and I added an include of the archives.

NEW page added: Club Projects
https://www.humboldt-arc.org/club-projects/ -- The page will be the 'heart'
of the part of the site that explains all the things the clubs does. If you
do something that's club related that isn't shown on this page, let me know
what it is and I'll add it.

Works in progress: Why Radio?
https://www.humboldt-arc.org/why-radio/ -- This page isn't linked to the
menu yet, but this will be the start of an educational section of the site,
explaining how radio is everywhere in our lives, how anyone right now can
listen to some it right now (with SDRs on the web), and what ham radio
operators are doing nowadays.

This page is a little ambitious, so it might get broken up into several web
pages as the content grows. Also, please be aware that it's not nearly
complete and I haven't even really started the "why amatuer radio" part
yet, except including a great video from ARRL on it.

If you have _any_ interesting photos, videos, or articles that you took,
produced, or had a hand in creating, please send them to me to include on
the website! I'd love to have any slide decks, audio recordings, or any
content whatsoever related to our Workshops and Field days. I think that
would be very interesting content to have on the site.

I will also completely re-do the 'About HARC' page, as it doesn't really
tell you who we are or why someone would want to join. But I did find this
on the ARRL website about our club, and I think it's a great starting place
for a new About page.

ARRL’s Version of ‘What is HARC”

Serving Eureka and all of Humboldt County California, the Humboldt Amateur
Radio Club is the original ham club in our area and is a traditional,
active, and progressive collection of radio amateurs young and old, new and
seasoned, who practice the art and science of Amateur Radio. At HARC, we
welcome all who are interested in amateur radio, including those who are
currently licensed and those who are not yet licensed.

HARC is a traditional Amateur Radio club* with monthly meetings, nets,
license classes and exams, public service activities, programs, etc. The
number of members over the age of 30 exceeds the number of members under
the age of 30. The club is strong on Elmering (mentorship).

*(Although traditional, we are up-to-date on the latest in ham radio,
including digital modes and satellite work.)

I'll start with that and see where it gets me. If anyone has _any_
suggestions on the 'about HARC' text, I'm very open to hearing it. I'd also
like to thank Howward, KB6NN, for all the wonderful help and feedback he
has given me. It's been invaluable.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, and I hope the rain
doesn't change your SWR too much!

73,
