Operational Area and EM Partners,

The Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is currently hiring for a Program Coordinator to focus on hazard mitigation and climate/community resiliency (job bulletin attached). We are seeking a motivated individual to assist the county in implementing and prioritizing projects identified in the Humboldt County Operational Area Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), seek and secure grant funding, and participate in the update/revision process of our HMP.

This position will be responsible for coordinating the following, in addition to other duties:
Exploring and implementing hazard mitigation projects with an emphasis in building climate and community resiliency to natural hazards.
Providing routine reports to department and county leadership on the status of mitigation and resiliency projects, funding opportunities and areas of heightened concern.

Analyzing Humboldt County’s risk profile and identifying/prioritizing mitigation projects with other county departments and jurisdictions within the County of Humboldt in conjunction with the Humboldt County Operational Area Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Monitoring the availability of Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding, identifying local funding match opportunities and applying for HMGP funding for appropriate projects.

Conducting multijurisdictional hazard risk assessments and community profiles, engaging in outreach efforts to inform partners and community members of Humboldt County’s hazard profile as well as preparedness and mitigation strategies to minimize individual and jurisdictional risks.
