I am Jay, KJ6WSS, a retired general contractor who receives, renovates
and re-installs communication towers for ham operators. My primary
residence is in Richmond while a secondary residence is at Stafford
(Scotia). The towers often come from the estates of silent keys which
want them removed prior to listing the real estate. Typically, a new
base plate is fabricated while nuts, bolts, cables and winches are
replaced as needed. I am a volunteer and only request that the material
costs be covered.
The smaller towers are more easily placed locally in Contra Costa County
where my wife and I are members of three ham clubs. I currently have two
large self supported tilt-up, crank-up, towers for which there is no
local interest. These towers are rated for large hf beam antennas but
would be useable in repeater applications or high gain vertical antennas
at communication hubs, volunteer fire departments, etc.
I have a trailor with a ladder rack to move these 20' plus collapsed
towers and can to deliver to most installation sites.
I may be reached at: jayrfenton at gmail.com.
