Cliff,

Similarly to Don's suggestion, which I believe is the mobile radio anthony
has as his mobile, Icom has the 2730a which I have as my mobile. There is
also an older Yaesu, the ft8800r, which is well loved. The new ft8900 is
the new version and is a quad band fm only 10m, 6m, 2m, 70cm.

Please verify, but all of these radios are
-analog only,
- 50w 2m, and 35w on 70cm.
-Detachable / remote mount head unit,
-the microphone can plug into the head unit OR the main body (may make or
break your installation ideas)
-cross band repeat
-Dual squelch and volume
-Dual recieve (basically 2 radios in one box)
-you will also want to look into an external speaker.

You want to be aware of where ALL of your vehicles air bags are and where
they deploy too... an external speaker or head unit to the face at
1,000,000 mph or however fast they deploy, is not fun.

There is lots of information in the club on these radios, and maybe even
one for sale if you ask around.

Give me a call or email if you have any pointed questions.
73,
Ben KK6SYJ
