[Harc] Humboldt Comms Plan

Hi Peter -

Not sure if the group is interested, but I would be willing to help
facilitate / advocate for placement of operators at some of the fire
facilities.  One thing I noticed when I look at alternative emergency plans
is the interoperability between hams and first responders.  I know Greg is
working on this but having written approved plans for at least a few
locations with Humboldt Bay Fire system would be doable through our cert
program.  Last I checked, our communication center located at EPD doesn't
have amateur radios.  That may have changed with the upgrades but I haven't
heard anything different.

The Chief is very supportive of our program and would probably be happy to
work with the group.  Our cert program was recently given one of the HBF BC
incident command vehicles which is fully equipped for VHF and UHF emergency
communications (minus amateur radios for now) and a large batch of VHF
digital handhelds.  I would imagine much of that would be beneficial in the
hands of qualified/authorized operators.
